Katrina and Brendan got married last weekend in Connecticut. I’ve known Katrina and Brendan since I took their headshots a few years ago. They are both opera singers, and I was so excited when Katrina emailed me to tell me that they were getting married! I started the day off at Katrina’s parents’ beautiful house, where everyone was getting ready. Katrina was really relaxed, especially given the rainy weather.
We then headed to the church for the ceremony. It was lovely, because Katrina and Brendan’s friends (opera singers!) provided all of the music.
It was raining while Katrina was getting ready, pouring during the ceremony, and raining during the cocktail hour. We took all of the group shots indoors prior to the reception. Shawn and I were putting away some gear during the reception, when I noticed a shadow on the floor! Shadows mean one thing – sun! I said “I wonder if they’d be willing to run outside for a minute.” Only a few minutes later, one of Katrina’s bridesmaids (past bride Avi!) came up to me and asked if we could go outside to take some photos! YEAH! We snuck outside to snap a few shots of Katrina & Brendan during the reception, and I’m so glad we did! I couldn’t have planned the timing better myself – how much do you love the light in their hair?
Cocktail hour was amazing, as the singers performed again. I really enjoyed photographing, and listening to, the performances.
Here are some of my favorite dancing shots from the reception. So much fun!

Congrats to Katrina & Brendan! YAY!
I met up with Emily & Dennis earlier this week to shoot their engagement session in Boston. We got the timing just right – the flowers and blossoms were out in full force, the weather was beautiful, and the light was gorgeous!
I love the next sequence, especially the tulips!
Stay tuned for Emily & Dennis’ wedding in July!
I met Cara and Matt in Charlestown earlier this week for their engagement session. It was a beautiful spring night, and I really enjoyed exploring an area I’d never been in before. We started out at the Bunker Hill Monument, then made our way through the streets and parks down to the Navy Yard.
I love the light coming from behind the tree in the next two shots.
Up next… bricks!
Stay tuned for Cara & Matt’s wedding in September!
Deborah & Jeff got married this weekend on a beautiful sunny afternoon at The Lyman Estate in Waltham. I was looking forward to being part of something happy after such a difficult week of news. I started the day off with Deborah who was getting ready in the bridal suite. She was all smiles, and managed to get into her lace-up dress in record speed!
The ceremony was outside. The sun was shining, the readings were perfect, and the smiles kept coming!
I love this next photo of Deborah having a drink right after the ceremony – her face tells the whole story – I’m so happy that I’m married and relieved that the ceremony is over!
Here are a couple photos of Deborah & Jeff.
The Lyman Estate has a beautiful stairwell, and since we were there during the afternoon, the light was beautiful!
The Lyman Estate is stunning. I loved the centerpieces – purple flowers in vases set atop books, which was perfect since Deborah is a librarian! The place cards were also perfect – individually made bookmarks for each wedding guest. I was obsessed with the silver dinosaurs one of their guests made as a gift – I want them!
Congrats to Deborah & Jeff!
I met up with Emily & Alex yesterday at the deCordova Sculpture Park for their engagement session! It was a gloriously perfect spring day. We were actually scheduled to shoot on Tuesday night, but it suddenly (and unexpectedly) started raining on our way to the session and we decided to reschedule for the following morning. I’m glad we did, because the beautiful weather meant there were lots of people out at the park. It was great to walk around in the fresh air, and to see so many people smiling and enjoying life and their loved ones after the Boston Marathon bombing.
We enjoyed taking photos with the sculptures, but we also used the architecture of the museum itself, as well as the beautiful trees on the property, as settings.
I love this next set, especially the first photo, because it shows how cute and in love Emily and Alex are.
Stay tuned for Emily & Alex’s wedding this summer!
