Anna & Bert’s Winter Engagement Session

I’m back!  I’m still technically on maternity leave, but I was itching to get out and shoot again, so when Anna and Bert emailed asking me if I could shoot their engagement session this month, I jumped at the chance!  We met up on Saturday at their super cool apartment in Worcester.  It’s in a converted schoolhouse and is totally amazing.  We started inside the building, since there were lots of cool spots to work with, and since Anna and Bert wanted some photos with their cats.  How much do you love the orange wall at the entrance of their building? We then headed outside to a park near their apartment.  It was freezing out, and I am therefore in awe of these two – please note that Anna is not wearing a coat in some of these photos. The cold become pretty unbearable for all involved, so we headed back into their apartment to take some more photos.  I love that their cat insisted on being in some of the photos again.  I also love the shots of Anna and Bert drinking wine since Bert has recently started making his own wine!  I’ve decided that I really like doing engagement shoots in couples’ homes.  This is the second one that I’ve done, and I love the intimacy and the journalistic style of the photography.  I also feel like the couples are more comfortable and therefore being themselves since they’re in their own homes.  I’d love to do more shoots like this in the future!

Stay tuned for Anna and Bert’s wedding this summer!

Timna and Chris’ Wedding at The Charles River Museum of Industry

Timna and Chris got married this past weekend at The Charles River Museum of Industry, a venue that is near and dear to my heart since I live and work a few minutes away in Waltham!  I’ve known Timna for years, and in all honesty I can say that I have never seen her so happy!   Their wedding day was perfect – it was literally the most beautiful day of the year, so it was a joy to get to shoot outside, even at 35 weeks pregnant!  Many many thanks to my assistant Heather for all of her help this season, and to Linda, my second shooter and hero, who filled in for a sick second shooter with two hours’ notice.   And thanks to both for a few of the shots below!   We started off the day at a beautiful spot along the Charles River, where we took portraits of Timna and Chris. The ceremony was held in Landry Park, just outside the Museum of Industry.  It was a sweet and very personal ceremony.  I was smiling ear to ear the whole time, just like Timna! After the ceremony, we took some group photos and then headed inside the museum for cocktail hour and some quick photos of Timna and Chris.  I love that Timna climbed up onto the fire engine in her dress! Here are a few of my favorite shots from the cocktail hour and reception. There was TONS of dancing at this wedding.  In fact, the guests mobbed the dance floor the minute the reception started.  It was awesome!Congratulations Timna and Chris!   Your wedding was awesome!

Leeanne & Joe’s Wonderful Wedding at Tower Hill Botanic Garden

Leeanne and Joe got married last weekend at Tower Hill Botanic Garden.  I’ve been looking forward to their wedding all year!  Their engagement session was great, we did a walk through of the venue about a month ago and I was totally inspired, and also Leeanne and Joe are just awesome people.  I knew it was going to be one of the highlights of my year!

I started the day off with Leeanne and her bridesmaids at her house.  Leeanne was super happy, and her bridesmaids were all amazing.  Leeanne was totally giddy about her dress, and couldn’t stop staring at it!  And the bridesmaids were super helpful, both to Leeanne and to my 32-week pregnant self!  I got some cat hair on my pants before we left for the ceremony, and one of the bridesmaids helped me lint brush it away since I wasn’t flexible enough to do it myself.  How awesome is that?   I should also mention, for those of you who like a good “small world” story, that Jeff and Laura, whose wedding I photographed in July, were coincidentally (and totally unrelated!) attending a party next door to Leeanne’s house while I was photographing everyone getting ready.  Totally insane!!!When the ladies were done getting ready, I took the limo with them to the ceremony.  Note to self: it is very hard to get into and out of a limo when 32 weeks pregnant, but, again, the bridesmaids were super helpful!  Thanks ladies!  The ceremony was awesome – Leeanne and Joe were both so happy, the weather was perfect, and Tower Hill Botanic Garden was absolutely beautiful! After the ceremony, we took some photos of Leeanne and Joe.  When we did our walk through last month, Leeanne told me she loved the bench and the swing on the grounds of the gardens, so we spent a lot of time at those two spots taking photos. We also took some photos in this beautiful field, where, thankfully, neither Shawn nor myself got poison ivy even though we were afraid that we did! Here are a few of my favorites of the wedding party.  So much fun!For those of you who know me, or who read this blog, you know I’m a die hard Star Wars fan.  So you can imagine my excitement when THIS happened after Leeanne and Joe were announced!  Best.  Intro.  Ever. Here are a few of my favorites from the reception, which was so much fun.  My favorite thing as a wedding photographer is to see my couples having a great time at their reception, and Leeanne and Joe totally had a blast!Congrats Leeanne and Joe, and thanks for having such an awesome wedding!

Tenley and Josh’s Awesome Wedding at The Lenox Hotel

Tenley and Josh got married at The Lenox Hotel a couple of weekends ago, and I was so excited for their wedding!   They are a great couple, and they both love photography, so I knew their wedding was going to be an amazing experience.   Special thanks to Shawn and Heather for all of their help, and for some of the shots below!  Heather and I started off the day with Tenley in her suite at the hotel.  Her dress was magnificent!  And how even more gorgeous does it look hanging from the chandelier?  Tenley looked absolutely beautiful, and it was a great start to the day! After an emotional first look outside the hotel and group shots outside the Boston Public Library, we all headed back into the hotel for the ceremony.  It was personal, sweet, and both Tenley and Josh were all smiles. Since Tenley and Josh love photography so much, they built in a ton of time after the ceremony for us to run around  the city and take photos.  We took photos near the concrete behind the library, the trees along Commonwealth Avenue, and the brick near Newbury Street.  I love the city feel of the photos!   And I love how great Tenley and Josh look! When we finished outside, we headed inside the hotel to take some more photos.

During the reception, we were lucky enough to be able to sneak away and go up to the roof of the hotel.     I totally love this next set of photos – so Boston! And we got even MORE lucky, because while we were up on the roof the sign for the Lenox turned on!!!We took the wedding party photos in front of some buildings on Commonwealth Avenue, and then near the trees. This next photo is one of my favorites from the night (thanks for the idea, Josh)! The reception was held in the same room as the ceremony, and it was lovely.  There were lots of dances and speeches, and Tenley and Josh were beaming the whole night!Congratulations Tenley and Josh!  Your wedding was amazing, and the camera totally loves you both.  I hope you enjoy looking through the photos!p.s.  I nearly got a concussion (long story) two seconds after taking the above photo, but it was totally worth it!
