This is the second year that I photographed The Show for The Performance Factory, and much like last year, I was super impressed!  The talent and dedication of the students really shows during the performance numbers.  The numbers involved everything from dancing nuns to showtunes to pirates – argh!

I decided to take my new camera for a test drive last week and photographed a ballroom dance class in Waltham.  I was really there to take a group shot of the students, but ended up hanging out for the entire class in pursuit of interesting moments and expressions.

And in case you were wondering: I HEART my new camera.  The noise reduction, the sharpness, the full-frame-ness, and most importantly, the color!  Oh, the color!  The colors are so rich and deep and delicious.  It’s a dream!

The Show was great. I had seen the students practicing their numbers while working on the multimedia piece last year and was psyched to see everything come together. The students are all motivated, talented, work extremely hard, and bring energy to their performances. They adore their teacher Christine, who pushes them to excel. I danced as a child and relived the experience while photographing the students. My only complaint is that I couldn’t watch The Show in its entirety because I was busily taking photos. I hope I get to shoot more dance recitals in the future because I had a blast! Here are some of my favorites!
