I photographed the Nobles Theatre Collective’s production of Metamorphoses last week.  The play, written by Mary Zimmerman, is based on the myths of Ovid.  As usual, I was super impressed by the cast and crew of the production, who constructed and acted in a pool onstage.  The production was spectacular.  I especially liked the lighting – very colorful and moody.  I hope you enjoy the photos!

I had the distinct pleasure of photographing NTC’s production of Bat Boy: The Musical this week.  I hadn’t seen the show before and really enjoyed it!  It’s Beauty and the Beast meets Edward Scissorhands meets True Blood, and I always love a singing mob of angry townsfolk!

Nobles always puts on a good show, but I was absolutely floored by the aweomeness of this production.  I think this was the best yet!   The talent level of the students is amazing, the special effects and props and gore were great, and the music was spectactular.  If you are looking for something to do this week, I highly recommend seeing it.  Here’s some information about the show (along with some photos by yours truly!).  Seriously – go see it – you will not be disappointed.

I had the great pleasure of photographing the Nobles Theatre Collective’s production of Mark Twain’s Is He Dead? earlier this week.  It was a fun farce involving cross-dressing, cases of mistaken identity, romance, and fun accents.  As usual I was super impressed by the talent and dedication of all of the students involved.  If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, I definitely recommend checking it out!

This is a Stereo Telescope, a Boston-based band that is so into photography that they did a shoot on the beach, in the snow, in the water, wearing short sleeves, on a really cold / rainy / snowy / windy winter day in December.

Here they are lying on the sand waiting for a wave to crash over them.  Did I mention it was like 30 degrees out with a wintry mix?

The original concept for the shoot involved sunset and fireworks, but since there was no sun we had to improvise.

This next shot looks like it was taken on another planet – I LOVE IT.  An empty beach covered in snow and the flare of fireworks – not what I originally imagined for the shoot, but awesome nonetheless.

Nikki and Kurt were amazing – it was cold, miserable, and yet they totally rocked the shoot.  The crazy conditions were totally worth it, and I think we got some good stuff for them to use as part of their promo materials!

I got to photograph the Nobles Theatre Collective’s production of Three Farces and a Funeral at Noble and Greenough last night.  As usual I was very impressed and very entertained!  Here are a few of my favorite moments from last night’s performance!

While I was working at CDIA’s high school summer program last week, Nobles was wrapping up their high school summer theater program and asked me to come in to shoot one of their rehearsals.  I was torn because it conflicted with an afternoon at the photo program, but there was no way I could refuse when they were putting on a production of the musical Zombie Prom.  Everyone knows I can’t resist anything zombie-related, so I left the photo program early one afternoon to check out the performance!

Contrary to what I had made up in my head prior to seeing the musical, the show was not about a bunch of zombies who decide to have a prom.

It was about a high school girl who falls in love with the high school rebel in the 50s.

When her boyfriend dies, she goes into mourning and nobody is really being supportive.

Especially the principal, who is just downright mean.

Everything’s moving along just fine until…

… her boyfriend returns from the dead as a nuclear ZOMBIE!!!

Love brought him back from the dead, so the Zombie, of course, wants his girl back.  But she thinks that’s sort of weird!

In fact, mostly everyone thinks the whole situation is sort of werid, except for a local reporter who hears about the story and takes up the Zombie’s cause!  The Zombie becomes super popular!

The students at the high school decide they are for Zombie rights.

The principal is really mad, and threatens to… gasp… cancel prom if the Zombie comes!

Everyone is conflicted.

The reporter shows up to talk to the principal – turns out they have a sordid past together!

The prom goes on!

And the girl and the Zombie are voted King and Queen!

After a big reveal (I won’t give it all away), everyone lives happily ever after (well, except the Zombie, because he’s not of the living).

Anyway, as usual, the Nobles students put on a great show.  I can’t believe how much they put together in less than two weeks!  Well done!

Super Time Pilot is a Boston-based duo that will be releasing a CD this summer.  I met up with them last Friday to take some photographs for their CD cover, and to shoot some promo shots!

These are some of my favorites from the promo session.  I am not going to show you the cover just yet – you’ll have to wait until their CD comes out this summer!

We got really lucky with the weather.  It was supposed to rain, but instead there was just enough cloud cover to give us beautifully perfect soft light.
