Anna & Bert’s Winter Engagement Session

I’m back! I’m still technically on maternity leave, but I was itching to get out and shoot again, so when Anna and Bert emailed asking me if I could shoot their engagement session this month, I jumped at the chance! We met up on Saturday at their super cool apartment in Worcester. It’s in a converted schoolhouse and is totally amazing. We started inside the building, since there were lots of cool spots to work with, and since Anna and Bert wanted some photos with their cats. How much do you love the orange wall at the entrance of their building?We then headed outside to a park near their apartment. It was freezing out, and I am therefore in awe of these two – please note that Anna is not wearing a coat in some of these photos. The cold become pretty unbearable for all involved, so we headed back into their apartment to take some more photos. I love that their cat insisted on being in some of the photos again. I also love the shots of Anna and Bert drinking wine since Bert has recently started making his own wine! I’ve decided that I really like doing engagement shoots in couples’ homes. This is the second one that I’ve done, and I love the intimacy and the journalistic style of the photography. I also feel like the couples are more comfortable and therefore being themselves since they’re in their own homes. I’d love to do more shoots like this in the future!

Jill and Jeff’s Park Engagement Session!

I met up with Jill and Jeff on Monday for their engagement session in Cushing Memorial Park in Framingham. What an awesome place for a photo shoot! There were zillions of places to take photos, and I have to admit I was overwhelmed by all of the possibilities! I think the bleachers were my favorite – I could have done an entire shoot right there. Jill and Jeff were great, and I am really looking forward to their wedding in July 2012! Thanks to Shawn for carrying my stuff and for a couple of the photos below.

Tenley and Josh’s Boston Engagement Session

Meet Tenley and Josh! They are getting married in August, and I can’t wait for their wedding. It’s going to be in Boston, and if the weather is good, we have the potential for a spectacular photo op! I am not going to talk about it too much as I don’t want to jinx it. We met up on Friday for their engagement session in Boston. We started out on Newbury Street, at the location of their first real date. From there we walked down Newbury Street, looking for fun spots to shoot. I love the next set for the green door!We decided to walk through parking lots parallel to Newbury Street, and how lucky were we to find this awesome blue-ish wall that matched Josh’s shirt! This might be my new favorite location in all of Boston (if only I could remember where it was!).

We headed along Newbury Street and ended up at the Public Gardens, where everything was in bloom!!! How spectacular is the pink in the next shot?After the park, we headed down into the Arlington T station to do some cool subway shots.Stay tuned for Tenley and Josh’s wedding in August!

Valery and Matt’s Engagement Session at Union Station and WPI

Hello everyone! Long time no see! I know its been ages since I’ve posted anything. I really enjoyed my off-season – I spent time working on albums, doing the random job here and there, updating my website and branding, teaching middle school photography, and getting my life in order before the 2011 wedding season. I’ve been reading, exercising, chipping away at my Netflix queue, going to the movies, enjoying time with my friends and family, and just relaxing. This past weekend’s engagement session with Valery and Matt marked the end of my off-season and the beginning of wedding season! I have to admit that I’m happy to get back to work – time off is wonderful, but I love my job and am excited to dive back in!

We met up in Worcester on Saturday, and got all sorts of lucky with the weather – there was rain predicted (the sun came out!) and I was worried about the temperature (it was 55 degrees… in March!). We started off on the campus of WPI, where Valery and Matt met. The campus is super adorable and had tons of cute areas for photos. I made sure to get photos with snow so that Valery and Matt will remember their wedding year as the year that it never stopped snowing! From WPI we headed to Union Station, which I had never been to before. What an inspiration! There were all sorts of ornate architectural details, not to mention interesting nooks to take photos in. Valery brought two different outfits for the shoot, and I was in love with BOTH of her pairs of shoes. So cute!!! I can’t wait to see what she wears on the wedding day. And please note the Yay flags. I love Yay flags. Yay for yay flags!

Jordan and Matt’s NYC Engagement Session

I met up with Jordan and Matt this weekend at Fort Tryon Park in NYC. I lived in NYC for three years and had no idea that Fort Tryon Park even existed! It is awesome, and, as far as I can tell, the only truly quiet place in all of Manhattan. It felt really removed from the city, and I was glad to have this location to get to know Jordan and Matt!

Laura and Shaun’s Boston Engagement Session

I met up with Laura and Shaun last week at the Boston Common for their engagement session. It was a cloudy but warm day, and Laura wore an awesome red jacket! We walked around for about an hour and a half, trying to get photos of both the city and nature. As part of the nature component of the shoot, we were nearly accosted by a weird squirrel who assumed the attack position while we were taking some shots on a bench in the Common. That squirrel was crazy!!! We had a great time in spite of the crazy squirrel, and got some great shots!

Erin and Matt’s Engagement Session at the Wachusett Reservoir

I met up with Erin and Matt last week to shoot their engagement session at the Wachusett Reservoir. One of my favorite things about my job is that I get to go to places that I’d otherwise not even know about! The reservoir was really beautiful, and the Clinton Dam was amazing! I highly recommend a trip out there to check it out. The fall colors were absolutely beautiful, and Erin and Matt were awesome!

Kate and Tom’s Farm Engagement Session!

Kate and Tom are getting married next fall, so they wanted to have a fall-themed engagement session. We met up at Connors Farm in Danvers last week, and had a great session! Kate and Tom are adorable, and I can’t even put into words how much I love the flower in Kate’s hair (she made it!). The craziest thing about the shoot was that there are apparently no employees at the farm. We walked around for about an hour and a half and not a single person asked us what we were doing. We took photos everywhere, from the green house to the Clint Eastwood themed corn maze. It was so much fun!!!

Emily and Brian’s Apple Picking Engagement Session!

The original plan for Emily and Brian’s engagement session was to head up to NH on Wednesday for apple picking. Unfortunately it rained on Wednesday, and we went back and forth trying to decide whether to find an indoor location or reschedule. Luckily we decided to reschedule for Friday, when we headed up to Brookdale Farms for an absolutely beautiful morning of apple picking and all around fall wonderfulness! The weather was amazing, and the farm not only had orchards, but all sorts of great spots for photos. One of these spots included the most amazing natural light I have ever seen in my life! There was a little corner where two white buildings met, and light was just bouncing around everywhere. It was magic! I loved Emily’s purple dress, and that she brought a wardrobe change that was also purple. My only complaint is that we were a bit late to actually pick honey crisp apples, which are my favorite apples of all! Luckily the farm had some for sale, so I bought a ton of them for my husband and I to enjoy. I also bought some cider donuts. Yum!

Shelley and Scott’s North Station Engagement Session!

I met up with Shelley and Scott on Sunday for their engagement session. We met up near North Station, and took advantage of the architecture, the Garden, the train station (where I didn’t get reprimanded for taking photos!), and the Zakim Bridge. I really enjoyed the session because although I’ve been through North Station around 12,000 times, I never actually took the time to walk around the area and check out the bridge! The last photo in the set is my favorite from the session – the light was just perfect, and we found a really cool (and unsuspected) spot with a great view of the bridge!
