Shelley & Scott’s Awesome Wedding

Shelley and Scott got married last Friday at the Doubletree Hotel in Bedford, MA.   It was super hot out, but that didn’t damper anyone’s spirits.  Shelley and Scott are two of the nicest people I’ve ever met, and I’m so happy that they had such a wonderful wedding.  Shelley was radiant, the day was beautiful, and everything was absolutely perfect.  Thanks to Shawn and Heather for all of their help (especially for getting me water!) and some of the shots below!

Heather and I started off the afternoon with Shelley, who was getting ready at the hotel.  Like I said, Shelley was radiant, and looked totally gorgeous. We then headed out to the courtyard for the ceremony, which was lovely. When the ceremony ended, we had a few minutes to take photos of Shelley and Scott in the courtyard. When we were done with the portraits, we headed inside for the reception.  Here are a few of my favorite shots of the first dance and speeches. And here’s my favorite set, the dancing!  Shelley and Scott’s wedding was SO MUCH FUN.  I ran into Shelley on the dance floor at one point and she said that she didn’t want it to end!  I agreed!  It was really hard not to join in on the dancing – everyone was having such a great time!Congrats Shelley and Scott!  You guys are awesome, and we wish you all the best!

Anne and Ben’s Wedding at Veronique

Anne and Ben got married last weekend at Veronique Ballroom in Brookline.  It was a beautiful day.  Anne and Ben were adorable, there were Star Wars cuff links, and the details were amazing (peacock feathers everywhere!).    Heather (who took some of the shots below) and I started the day off with Anne, who was getting ready upstairs from the ballroom.  Anne was absolutely radiant!

After taking some photos of Anne with her bridesmaids, we met up with Shawn downstairs at the ballroom (thanks Shawn for some of the shots below!) for the ceremony.  The ceremony was lovely, full of laughter and personal vows. After the ceremony, we headed outside to take some group photos and photos of Anne and Ben. We then headed inside to the lobby, which was amazing.  I think I could have taken photos there for hours! Here are a few of my favorites of the wedding party – I love the colors! When we were done taking formal photos, we headed inside for the reception.  Up next are some of my favorite details (so elegant!) as well as some photos from the beginning of the reception. And here are some of my favorites of the dancing!

Congratulations Anne and Ben!  Thank you so much for having us at your wedding – it was wonderful!

Avi & David’s Wedding at The Liberty Hotel

Avi and David got married last weekend at The Liberty Hotel in Boston.  It was a beautiful day, and what a great venue!  If you haven’t checked it out, I highly recommend stopping their some night for drinks.  Thanks to my second shooters Shawn and Heather for all of their help, and for some of the shots seen below!

We started off the day with Avi and David, who were getting ready in the most amazing suite ever.  It was at the top of the hotel, had tons of windows overlooking Boston, and was totally huge.

The suite was big enough for both Avi and David to get ready in without seeing each other!

After a great first look, we took photos of Avi and David.  We started out on the suite’s porch overlooking Boston.  Unfortunately it started raining about a minute after we went out there, so we went back into the suite to take photos.  After that, we headed downstairs to Scampo, the location of Avi and David’s first date.  How awesome is that?

The ceremony was held inside the hotel, and was beautiful!

After cocktail hour, we headed to the ballroom for dancing, toasts, dinner, and cake!

When dinner was over, everyone moved upstairs for dancing and dessert.  The dancing at this wedding was the best!  First of all, the hora!  Second of all, the room!  The photos had a real Alice-in-Wonderland-vibe thanks to the wallpaper.  Thirdly, the lighting.  How cool is the pink cast on the wall?  And finally, the DJ!  Best mix ever.  Total late-90′s dance party, which reminded me of my, ahem, early club days.  He played songs like No Diggity, Too Close, Return of the Mack, This Is How We Do It, etc.  It was no easy feat to resist dancing!

Congrats to Avi and David!  Your wedding was lovely and soooo fun!

Jordan and Matt’s Museum of Science (Lightning and Dinosaurs and Space, Oh my!) Extravaganza!

I don’t even know where to begin with Jordan and Matt’s wedding.  Before I was a photographer, I was a molecular biologist.  I’ve always loved all things science, and I still do.  And of course, being born and raised in MA, I love the Museum of Science.  And, let’s face it, I’m a big nerd.  I love Star Wars and dinosaurs and comics etc.  I didn’t know much about Jordan and Matt’s wedding when I booked it, but after meeting them for their engagement session in NYC I knew immediately that it was going to be one of the highlights of my season.   I loved it not only because of the location, but because of all the personal touches Jordan and Matt added to their day.  It was offbeat, adorable, and so perfect for the two of them.  Big thanks to Heather and Shawn for helping me out with carrying things and lights, and for some of the photos below!

Heather and I started off the day with Jordan, who was getting ready in a secret room in The Museum of Science.  I was very excited when I learned that her wedding party had brought a steamer!    I really wish all brides would bring one.  It really helps, and for some reason I really love the photos with all of the steam.  Jordan was radiant, and I loved the purple dresses and bouquets.  From there we headed to the Theater of Electricity for the ceremony.  Could you ask for a better place to get married?  No, you could not.  The ceremony was fun and emotional, and Jordan and Matt wrote their own vows.

After the ceremony, Jordan and Matt……. got into the cage and prepared to be struck by lightning.  They were very brave.  I’ve seen the lightning show a zillion times and I still think I’d be nervous getting into the cage.  When the lightning demonstration was over, we headed outside to take some group photos and photos of Jordan and Matt.  The light was perfect, right around sunset!I also stole Jordan and Matt for a few minutes of their reception to take some photos of them in the museum.  There was no way I was leaving there without a photo of them in front of the Tyrannosaurus Rex! The reception was awesome.  How much do I love the table names?  You’ll spot Beryllium below.  Side note: When I saw this, I immediately thought “Why didn’t I think of this for my own wedding?”  My husband is a chemist and it would have been perfect.  Although, I suppose our Star Wars planet table names were also perfect.  I digress…..  Also please note the steampunk/robot/space cake topper (amazing!), the test tube centerpieces (also amazing!), and the extremely fun parent/family dances. When it was time to dance, the crowd literally erupted.  I’ve never seen anything like it…. they were ready, and they exploded onto the dance floor and never stopped.  Jordan and Matt’s DJ was amazing, mainly because he played Magic Dance. It was a struggle not putting down my camera so that I could dance with the guests at this wedding (although I did dance to Magic Dance, since it was playing as we were leaving the museum).

Congratulations Jordan and Matt!  Your wedding was so much fun – thank you so much for having us!

Jill and Jeff’s Park Engagement Session!

I met up with Jill and Jeff on Monday for their engagement session in Cushing Memorial Park in Framingham.  What an awesome place for a photo shoot!  There were zillions of places to take photos, and I have to admit I was overwhelmed by all of the possibilities!  I think the bleachers were my favorite – I could have done an entire shoot right there.  Jill and Jeff were great, and I am really looking forward to their wedding in July 2012!   Thanks to Shawn for carrying my stuff and for a couple of the photos below.
