Every now and then I have the great pleasure of helping out a colleague as a second shooter at a wedding. I got to work with my friend Kristin, who is an extremely talented food photographer in the Boston area and all around amazing photographer, at a wedding in early January. The wedding was beautiful – gorgeous bride, lovely church, animated kids, and everything else that makes a wedding wonderful. I love to second-shoot because I get to take risks that I might not ordinarily take when photographing a wedding. I spent most of the day with prime lenses, and challenged myself to shoot a bit differently than I ordinarily do. Clients often ask why I include a second photographer as part of all of my packages, and I tell them that a second perspective is valuable because sometimes fun things are happening in two different locations and its nice to have full coverage, as well as two different styles of photography. My favorite photo below, the one of the kids playing a game in the church, was taken while Kristin was away photographing something else. I had a great time photographing this wedding, and am looking forward to working with Kristin again later this year!
