My fiance, his cousin and I headed down to Charlottesville, VA this past weekend for their cousin Jenny’s wedding.
We flew in through Dulles, and decided to take the scenic route to our hotel in Charlottesville through Shenandoah National Park.
We drove the entire distance of Skyline Drive, so didn’t have much time to experience the mountains. I did, however, manage to snap this photo which I think I will call “Matching.”

On our way back to the airport after the wedding, we decided to take a brief detour through Washington, DC. I had never been to DC so wanted to see as many sights as possible before our flight back! Unfortunately traffic conspired against us (which is, with hindsight, predictable given that many people probably head to our nation’s capitol for Memorial Day Weekend), so the only thing we were able to see was the sculpture garden.

Sol Lewitt can do no wrong.

I loved the light coming through the top.

I will definitely plan another visit to DC so that I can take some proper photos! My initial impression, however, is that it is a city that I will love – it seems clean, has many free museums (a plethora of art and science, my two favorite things!), and has beautiful architecture.
Stay tuned for photos from Jenny and Dan’s fabulous wedding – it was so fabulous that the soup was served in a martini glass!
